Future technology strategies focus on remote working, collaboration, productivity and managing and retaining people.
When it comes to their future enterprise application strategy, decision-makers place three things at the top of their priority list:
Top of the priority list is enabling the workforce to work wherever they want. The research clearly highlights that: “Decision-makers realize this is a necessity now.”
The second priority for future application strategies is creating an environment that enables greater collaboration.
Third on the list is maximizing employees’ ability to use their time productively. This is joint third alongside empowering their people to meet customer expectations, and quickly building functionality to respond to customer demands.
This comes close to matching the priorities of users, who say they want systems that enable remote and flexible working (second priority) followed by tools to improve their productivity and peer-to-peer collaboration (joint third.) Decision-makers also say that improving the experience of enterprise applications for employees is important.
Most important to their enterprise application strategy in the future
Across the board, the vast majority of decision-makers say there’s an intrinsic link between people and technology in the workplace.
Almost 9 out of 10 agree or strongly agree that enterprise applications are important for retaining people.
Overall, most decision-makers say their back-office systems are already integrated with people systems, such as human capital management (HCM.) This is higher among decision-makers at younger companies than older businesses.
And, on average, most believe their people decisions are currently driven by data. This percentage is higher among organizations with a new IT vendor, and highest among companies in Singapore and both the UK and US.
